Frequently Asked Questions

  • Absolutely! At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth became the norm. Since then, there has been reputable research published, like the article below, that supports the strong efficacy of tele-therapy.

  • I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of Mississippi and Oklahoma. I hold a Bachelor of Science majoring in Family Life Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Oklahoma.

  • Yes! Most insurance companies require the session to include both audio and video. Other than that, telehealth sessions are typically considered equivalent to in person sessions for insurance coverage.

  • This is dependent on several factors. The severity of your circumstances or diagnosis will determine frequency of sessions and length of treatment. I typically recommend starting out with weekly sessions, but I understand that isn’t realistic for everyone. We’ll work together to determine a plan of treatment that reflects your individual concerns and needs. Each therapy session lasts 53 minutes (a therapeutic hour.)

  • I utilize a holistic approach with my clients. This means I believe in viewing the client as an individual with influences and experiences rather than only basing treatment off of mental illness diagnosis alone. I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. Because of this, my approach is eclectic and pulls from a variety of evidence based therapeutic modalities including, but not limited to:

    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

    Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

    Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

    Trauma Informed Care

    Mindfulness and Grounding

    Gottman Method

All treatment will include evidence-based interventions to treat individuals and couples. This means that any therapeutic approach used in our sessions is backed by science and research.

  • If you have an insurance that I am not in-network with, I am considered an "out of network" provider. If you would like to use your out of network benefits, you would be responsible for paying my full rate and will be provided a Superbill to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement is dependent on your individual insurance plan, and I cannot guarantee reimbursement.

  • Not at this time. Teleheath offers me the lifestyle and flexibility that I need. I’m also given the opportunity to work with clients statewide by utilizing telehealth only.

  • Not exactly. Mississippi and Oklahoma state laws for telehealth require that the client be in the state that the therapist is licensed in. Because I’m only licensed in Mississippi and Oklahoma, my clients must be in Mississippi or Oklahoma at time of service.
